Tender Hands is committed to provide Life Skills to the teenage kids and the women coming off the streets. We do this by incorporating career enhancing life skills through our employment, to teach such skills as decision making, goal achievement and problem solving.
Every teenager wants some pocket change, under our supervision we teach these kids about being employed. The kids first priority is education, this Life Skills program for the children in our shelter is a supplement to their daily life, not a priority.

The Café’ will train and teach the teenagers and woman how to bake, to sell, to serve, to keep accounts, to market, to advertise and how to treat vendors. They all have different talents, skills and interest, we want to discover and build on their particular interests.

The computers at the Café will also be used during off hours to teach under-privilege children in the community basic computer skills.

Microenterprise “ Gifts that Give”

We recognize that not everyone will be interested in the operations of a Café and that they have their own dreams of a business.

Tender Hands will focus on microenterprise ventures with woman. Many of these women are gifted in jewelry making, candle making, sewing and craft making with various textiles from embroidery to basket making.   We want to send them to specific classes to further teach them how to make these products. We will also assist them in running it as their own business by fulfilling licensing requirements, tax payments and basic business operations.

Selling these gifts and products give these woman an opportunity to fulfill their own dreams. These women may lack basic business skills but they do not lack potential.
