Tender Hands is committed to provide Life Skills to the teenage kids and the women coming off the streets. We do this by incorporating career enhancing life skills through our employment, to teach such skills as decision making, goal achievement and problem solving.
Every teenager wants some pocket change, under our supervision we teach these kids about being employed. The kids first priority is education, this Life Skills program for the children in our shelter is a supplement to their daily life, not a priority.
Tender Hands has launched TH Bakes, which is a classic American style bakery. TH Bakes is the 3rd phase, if you will, of Tender Hands, the first is shelter, then outreach and now life skills. This is our life skills training portion of Tender Hands, focusing are teaching 'woman challenged by life' a skill and a source of income. The overall objective of TH Bakes is have these woman independent and functioning in society on their own. We will first strengthen the relationships we already have with the mothers of the children we care for now. After they are functioning on their own, they will be reunited with their child, since they will be able to support themselves in their own apartment. This opens up a bed in the Tender Hands shelter home and we are able to rescue one more child off the street.
