Tender Hands is committed to caring, providing and nurturing these children. We provide medical care, clean clothes, healthy meals, education and arts and crafts.. The children are also regularly taken out for picnics, outings, camps etc. We also encourage participation in sports such cricket or other programs provided at the local YMCA.

There are two shelters, one for girls and one for boys. Each shelter can hold about 10-12 children. The boy’s home is called ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and will have a set of house parents and a cook. The girl’s shelter is called ‘Hannah’s House,’ this house will have two single women and a cook. We have a housekeeper that takes care of both homes. We also have volunteer staffs that help tutor the children, take them on nature walks and teach them bible stories.

Medical
When a child first comes off the street they are examined by a doctor for any medical problems or symptoms and treated. We also continue with quarterly check-ups to measure the health of the child.

Education
Tender Hands is dedicated to the education of these children. Most of these kids have never attended schools or attended only for a few years. We first have to access what grade level they currently comprehend before we can determine what grade level they should be in.  They will be home-schooled until June, when the new school year begins. We also have computers and programs to help make learning as fun as possible. These children have a true desire to learn and want to be in school. However, some of the older boys prefer to simply learn a trade such as carpentry, auto-mechanics or plumbing.

Woman’s Shelter
For the women that want to come out of the red-light area, we currently network with other like-minded NGO’s to physically house them. However, Tender Hands will sponsor them, train them in a new vocation and provide the family network they need. We are believing God for our own Woman’s shelter.
We can house them on a temporary basis in the kid’s shelter but we believe they need their own quiet space to begin to heal and believe for their future.
